However, recently, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Overwatch\/comments\/1l85lq8\/doomfist_free_emp_punch_bug_not_sure_if_this_is\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">some players on Reddit<\/a> started noticing that Doomfist was particularly strong in the past couple of days.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68594f1511ea7\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>Blizzard has not issued an official statement on the reason why the character was locked from competitive modes. <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/OWCavalry\/status\/1932994510260146405\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Some online users<\/a> speculate that the Tank hero was removed because of a bug with his abilities.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68594f1512b65\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>By cancelling his ultimate ability with Power Block, Doomfist could gain a free empowered punch. This mechanic could be repeated indefinitely and significantly increased his damage output in-game, making him particularly dominant in matches, while being frustrating to play against.  <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68594f15137e4\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>As of writing, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reddit.com\/r\/Overwatch\/comments\/1l991ze\/why_is_doomfist_disabled_in_comp\/?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=web3x&amp;utm_name=web3xcss&amp;utm_term=1&amp;utm_content=share_button\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Doomfist is still unavailable<\/a> to play in ranked games, but can be played in quickplay and arcade modes.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-heading-68594f15144c1\" class=\"esi-heading \">\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span id=\"does_overwatch_2_have_a_doomfist_problem-2\">Does Overwatch 2 have a Doomfist Problem?<\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68594f151511a\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>There were plenty of fans online who welcomed the news of Doomfist&#8217;s temporary removal from the game. Which has sparked debates within the community on whether the hero has become the latest problem character. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68594f1515dbf\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>From Roadhog dominating the earlier days of Overwatch, to Brigitte ushering in the <a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/2025\/03\/overwatch-2s-goats-meta-is-back\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">GOATS meta<\/a>, Doomfist may be amongst the next characters to join the game&#8217;s list of most hated characters.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68594f15169e6\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>Hero bans were introduced in Season 16, alongside other changes such as <a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/2025\/05\/is-overwatch-2-stadium-a-good-mode-for-esports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Stadium <\/a>and the new hero Freja. In a <a href=\"https:\/\/overwatch.blizzard.com\/en-us\/news\/24205940\/weekly-recall-hero-bans\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">blog post online<\/a> called &#8220;Weekly Recall: Hero Bans&#8221;, Blizzard Entertainment revealed the most frequently banned characters in Overwatch 2.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<div id=\"esi-paragraph-68594f1517618\" class=\"esi-paragraph \">\n<p>According to the data, <a href=\"https:\/\/esportsinsider.com\/time-for-another-sombra-overwatch-rework\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Sombra <\/a>was the most highly banned hero with 85% on PC and 93% on console.
